Thank you for visiting RecorderMusic.us!

This is a PDF download site (meaning: your purchase is the PDF files score and/or parts). This operation is performed at the point of a completed purchase. We do not print or mail scores. This keeps your price very low. You have permission to reproduce for your use one copy of the PDF. Use in large groups requires more copies so if you are being honest then you might want to send a little money in the form of a donation in the Paypal window.  The link is conviently provided.. This is fair and will help buy my medication, food, utilities and housing.  Maybe some of these days I will get to attend another 'Texas Toot'.

Each composition has instrumentation, MP3 files for download, and first page pdf view. There has been no effort to 'wow' with verbiage or site style.

I would very much welcome your feedback in any area that would improve this website.

The site is completely searchable.

Good browsing to you.

Baroque Section

The Baroque Period dates from approximately 1600 to 1750. This period saw the creation of tonality which implies the use of a particular key. Musicians were expected to be accomplished improvisers.

Christmas Section

"Christmas Section" is comprised of music specific to the Advent, Christmas, & Epiphany seasons. There is nothing typical here.

Classical Section

In this case I am using this term as a 'catch-all' for music which does not fit well in any of the other categories.

Educational Section

This grouping contains many of the pieces which I have arranged for Ursuline Academy and for the first hour of the Fort Worth, Texas 'Cowtown Recorder Society' monthly 'Play-in'. During the first hour we teach beginning players the first elements of recorder technique by using 'The Recorder Guide' and some very easy renaissance literature.

Everything in this section is free so please use and share.

This section is designed to honor the music of the many Indigenous Nations within the United States.

Folk Section

I think of 'folk' music as an 'umbrella term' which covers all nationalities of 'traditional' music even if the composer has been identified. These pieces have a great crowd response.

Original Section

There have always been 'tunes' floating in and out of my head. This is my recent attempt to add a few compositions of my own making. I had previously been a bit cautious because a few years after turning in an assignment in music theory I found almost exactly where my head had pulled the end product. No one knew but I did. Totally embarrassed.

Other Holiday Section

My apologies for grouping these important holidays together but right now there are so few in my portfolio. I do plan to work on this problem. I am taking suggestions……any ideas?

Pop Section

Here 'Pop Music' is meant as a softer alternative to 'Rock and Roll'. It includes many styles. These often have a spontaneous sing-a-long response.

Ragtime Section

This genre enjoyed its peak popularity between 1895 and 1918. Its cardinal trait is syncopated rhythms where the main pulse is shifted in unexpected places. There are about 30 pieces here with a wide variety of composers.

Renaissance Section

The polyphonic (voice entering at different places) style of composition rose to prominence during this period. There is also a great deal of homophony (all part play similar rhythm and chordal structure) in music for dancing.  You will find an incomplete Terpsichore 'project' here.

Sacred Section

With the exception of 'Christmas Music' this grouping contains anything written for use in a church, temple (or grove)  maybe ? Nay, I don't think much for the 'grove' was ever written down…well…the "Rite of Spring"?
